Onyx is a crystalline form of quartz that can take almost any color with the common color being tan, brown and white. This stone is highly decorative and has been used as a decorative surfacing material for years. Onyx is less resistant to abrasion, etches when exposed to acidic foods and moderately absorptive to oil and highly pigmented liquids.
This stone is suitable for interior wall applications but not for floors. Onyx is at times used on vanities and other non-food service countertops but customers should be aware of its acid sensitivity and fragility. Nevertheless, it looks great where they are used.
